Who we are

It all begins when you have a child and the experience takes you by storm, why? Because its different. Our sweet little Brooks Michael was born with Hypopituitarism, Hypothyroidism, and Bilateral Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. He has developmental delays & sensory issues BUT he is the happiest baby boy. We get to experience life a whole new way because of him. It’s his world we are just living in it. ♥

The Why

Our Brookie had his first seizure the morning of Oct. 6th. He stopped breathing and we had to call the ambulance. He was transported to the ER in Geisinger Danville where he then had a second seizure. We were given a monkey on the way there and it didn’t resonate with him since he is severely visually impaired. I reached out to Aly’s Monkey Movement to talk about a collaboration to produce a sensory friendly monkey. In the passing weeks we spoke to Kristie the owner realizing that the mission was something that her family could no longer dedicate the time to. In that moment we knew we needed to do something. We needed to continue her mission with our twist. We wanted to reframe the monkeys into “Brookie’s Bears” & plan a five-year goal towards a play center called, “World of Play” that is an all-inclusive children’s center.

Our Vision

We want a state-of-the-art facility. We want sensory gardens with hands on activities. The calming sounds of water dipping and birds chirping. We want each room to have texture or be a Montessori wall. Each room they get to experience something new, something exciting, and most importantly feel inclusive.

We want a music room, grocery store, bumper cars, indoor play gym, outside play yard with lots of neurodivergent equipment. We will have classes for sign language and braille. We want support groups for families, so they never feel alone.

Notice I say we…a lot. That’s because it will take a village, our community, and people who relate to our mission to build this foundation.

Cheers to The Brookie Foundation. ♥

What We Do

🧩 Community Education & Awareness

We offer workshops, school visits, and community events that teach about invisible disabilities — such as sensory processing challenges, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and more. Our goal is to help teachers, peers, and families foster empathy, patience, and practical understanding in every environment.

🎒 Sensory Support Kits

The Brookie Foundation provides customized sensory kits for children who benefit from tactile tools, calming devices, and sensory-friendly items. Each kit is designed to help kids feel more comfortable and confident at school, home, or in social spaces.

💙 Equipment Assistance

We work with families to identify and fund essential equipment or tools that may not be covered by insurance — from adaptive seating to therapeutic devices. Our mission is to remove financial barriers and make sure every child has access to what they need to thrive.

🏡 Safe Spaces for Families

Parenting a child with unique needs can be both beautiful and challenging. The Brookie Foundation hosts safe, judgment-free gatherings — both in-person and online — where families can share experiences, ask questions, and find comfort in community.
